Our Trainer Jeannette

Jeannette Rybak, a dog behaviorist and trainer, has been working with dogs and their behavior for twenty years. Her motto and the basis for all her training is “learn to understand the dog”. That’s the goal; to facilitate and improve communication with your four-legged companion.

As the daughter of a man who practiced dog sports extensively, at age 9 Jeannette successfully passed her first dog sports test with her first bitch, Christel, a German Shepard Dog. That was when her love for dogs began and grew. She was enthusiastic about the human-dog relationship and wanted to understand the thoughts and actions of her own dog in order to be able to better communicate with her.

Jeannette was captivated from the beginning.

Her initial professional experience was in shelters where she was able to study dog pack behavior. She also mentored with a very experienced dog trainer in her hometown of Leipzig, Germany, in behavior therapy. In Leipzig Jeannette is also a breed warden of the IHV (Internationaler Hunde Verband) dog sports club where she consults with various breeders on desirable traits in the breeding lineage.

In order to provide her clients with the theoretical knowledge of how dogs learn and understand, Jeannette studied animal psychology (with a focus on dogs) in Switzerland. Over the many years of work in this field as a behavior therapist and dog psychologist, Jeannette has gained a wealth of experience in recognizing, analyzing and treating complex relationships between dogs and humans.

It is particularly important to Jeannette not to use force. Rather, her therapeutic approach enables the dog to respond, of their own volition, in the appropriate way. Thereafter owners have a better understanding of how a dog thinks.

Challenging as it is, Jeannette is also devoted to helping owners with dogs that are aggressive or have a history of biting. Here too she uses all of her knowledge and experience to enable the dog to live as normal a life as possible.
